Hey Reader,
I'm rethinking how I talk about rest and burnout, and I need your honest reaction.
Read these four statements. Which one makes you lean forward and think "That's what I've been missing"?
Just hit reply with A, B, C, or D:
A) "Work-life balance is making you MORE burned out"
The phrase "work-life balance" creates the problem it claims to solve. Life isn't equal—it demands different things at different times. Chasing balance keeps you stuck. You need rhythms, not balance.
B) "Burnout isn't from doing too much—it's from missing what matters"
You don't need to work less. You need four critical rhythms in place: Relational, Emotional, Spiritual, and Tangible. When these are intentionally cultivated, you can be highly productive without losing yourself.
C) "You're running your life without a plan"
You have business plans, project plans, financial plans—but no life plan. Leaders don't burn out from working hard. They burn out from operating without the right plan.
D) "Rest isn't doing nothing—it's doing what replenishes you"
Most leaders think rest means inactivity. Wrong. Real rest is found in the right rhythms: a challenging workout, deep conversations, learning something new, pursuing a hobby you love. Rest is active replenishment in the four key areas.
Which one? A, B, C, or D?
(If none of them land, tell me that too—it's helpful)
Thanks,
Kent
