RHYTHMS OF REST℠

The rhythm that held when everything else broke

Summer Series | A Rhythm Worth Returning To | This was one of my most-read issues from last season. Here it is again.

Hey there Reader,

What happens to your strongest rhythms the day life stops asking permission?

Mine got tested this past year when a physical injury knocked out nearly every rhythm I'd built almost overnight. I'm resending it because most leaders don't find out who's actually holding them or the business together until the week they can't do it themselves.

A friend told me he'd never seen me more at peace. Thirty days later I ruptured my patellar tendon, and 12-18 months of my life got decided for me in an instant.

Two surgeries and months of physical therapy later, the part I wasn't expecting was watching my wife drive me to every appointment, my kids pick up the slack at home, and friends drive an hour just to check on me, and none of that showed up by accident. The lesson underneath that is not one most driven leaders want to hear, and it's the rest of this issue.

Personal rhythms are not enough to survive a real disruption on their own. What is enough, and what it costs you to skip building it before you need it, is the rest of this issue.

If life took out most of your rhythms tomorrow, which three relationships would actually keep you standing, and when did you last invest in any of them?

Read the full issue here.

Until next time,

P.S. Season 2 launches next week! If this one hit close, the new REST Assessment is a quick way to see which rhythm needs the most attention right now.
